Congratulations to the winners of Australia’s Biggest Makeover Competition!

Congratulations Amanda Smith from Western Australia

Your Living Room is about to get a  $10,000 Makeover

Amanda’s Living Room Story:
The photo is of my stepdaughter Amanda’s living room. Amanda was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1995 at the age of 27 and is now confined to a wheelchair except for the hours she spends sitting on her day bed in her living room.
Amanda manages to live alone in a unit with wonderful assistance from carers, the MS Society and the Silver Chain. She is on a disability pension and is unable to afford any refurbishing.
Amanda rarely leaves her unit so it would be lovely if she could have her life brightened up with a living room refurbishment by Laura Ashley. Amanda has great pleasure from the Laura Ashley bed linen she was given for her birthday last year.

Kerri Anne Kennerly’s comments: Amanda would definitely benefit the most from this. She obviously spends a lot of time in that little room and it would be good to make a real difference and to show how such a little apartment could be transformed to life.

Second Prize:

Marnie’s Living Room Story
This is a photo of our living room. We purchased our house almost two years ago however as we came from a much smaller house we did not have any furniture to put in the living room. It is a beautiful room with a bay window and we would love to have furniture in the living room so we could sit and read with our three boys aged 7, 5 and 3. However, with mortgage costs and family expenses, buying furniture for this room is on the bottom of the list. I always browse through my copy of the Laura Ashley catalogue and dream of the furniture we could put in it one day. A Laura Ashley living room makeover would turn our empty room at the front of the house into a beautiful living room for the whole family to enjoy. Nights spent reading books, curled up on cosy sofas and armchairs, board games and family fun. Our living room deserves a makeover so it can be lived in!

Kerri Anne’s comments: This is such a dismal room which looks completely unused. It could look absolutely beautiful and would benefit a young family. It would be a wonderful transformation and more realistic to the everyday Australian market.

Third Prize:

Congratulations to Sue Hiller from Victoria

Sue will receive $1,500 worth of furniture and homewares from Laura Ashley and a bouquet of fresh flowers from Roses Only.

Sue’s Living Room Story
Help! I’m literally a blank canvas in desperate need of a makeover! I have just been extended by my owners in this beautiful seaside locale, and I’m feeling very empty on the inside. I absolutely love the elegance and sophistication of Laura Ashley’s home furnishings, but my owners don’t know where to start! Perhaps I could be their very own “Versailles” room, based on your Petit Palais Collection; or maybe a seaside theme is more appropriate for me, inspired by the Palazzo Collection with its Venetian influence. Elegantly Etched is classic with a contemporary twist, while the Orient Collection would allow guests to go on an exotic journey to the east within my very own walls! A RUGMARK rug for my soon-to-be polished boards would add warmth on chilly winter nights, while a stylish armchair would allow my owners to curl up by the crackling open fireplace. And wouldn’t I adore some exquisite Laura Ashley wallpaper to dress up my bare skin! The possibilities are endless! Make me what you will, but keep in mind that I won’t settle for anything less than the best… it has to be Laura Ashley.

KerriAnnes comments: A beautiful classic room that would look good with anything. It would be the perfect room to showcase the brand because it is so suited to the Laura Ashley style.

Heather’s Living Room Story
This is flood water which has been in the house for two days, we live on a property ‘Niminbah’ near Thallon in SW Qld. I think one way or another all our house will need a makeover, so to win the living room makeover would be a great help. Note that the ‘Laura Ashley’ curtains are tied in a knot to save them! Not much else will be saved.
